Attendance gets marked on paper and typed up later, results are assembled in spreadsheets each term, and nobody can answer a guardian's question without finding the right register. Attendance arrives straight from the machine at the gate, marks are entered against the same student record, and results come out of the system that already holds them. Coaching centres can group students into batches on top of that, and a student can sit in more than one.
